A Protective Life representative will call you at your convenience to conduct a 20-minute medical history phone interview.
You will then schedule a routine life insurance physical examination. No need to make a trip to the doctor – a medical representative will come to you. Some applicants may be eligible to obtain coverage without a full medical exam.4
Protective Life will review the information on your application and the results of your medical exam.4
Once your application and underwriting are complete, Protective Life will notify you. You'll receive all documentation electronically – file it away with your other important documents and notify your beneficiaries.
Please keep in mind that depending on your medical history and exam results, medical records or additional underwriting requirements may be required. This process generally takes a few weeks.

Face amount listed is for the initial level benefit period. The guaranteed premium will increase in policy year 6 and then remain level for the remaining level period (5 or 15 more years) and after the full level period (10 or 20 years) the premiums will increase annually immediately following the full level period. Actual results will vary based on a variety of factors including age, gender, health and other underwriting factors. Rates are effective as of August 12, 2019.
2 Requests for coverage increases require new evidence of insurability to Protective Life, and decreases can occur after the third policy year and are subject to minimum face amount limits.
