Discover the authentic and traditional taste of Spain. This pack contains the purest expression of the 5 most important grape varieties of the country. This collection of wines is grown and produced with the designation “Vino de la Tierra de Castilla”, which is an “Indicación Geográfica Protegida” or Protected Geographic Indication, in English. This growing region allows for the Varietal to be the focus of the wines expression, as opposed to the appellation.
All wines are from the 2020 vintage and produced with organically grown grapes
The unit includes 2 Box Sets.
Each Box set includes one bottle of each of the below wines
2020 Marquis de Blanco, Verdejo
Verdejo is one of the major white grapes grown in Spain. A typical Verdejo wine appears pale greenish yellow in the glass, with flavours to match — fennel, grassy and citrus notes, as well as hints of stone fruits like white peach. Its herby citrus character has much in common with Sauvignon Blanc.
2020 Marquis de Arrosa, Garnacha Rosada (Grenache Rose)
Garnacha (the Spanish name for Grenache), is a versatile varietal and is used in rose blends across the world. It is the third most planted varietal in Spain and is one of the most widely spread grapes in the world. Other regions such as the Rhone valley, Languedoc Roussilon, California and Oregon, rely on it for their roses.
2020 Marquis de Lorojo, Garnacha (Grenache)
Spain is recognized as the ancient origin of the Garnacha (Grenache) varietal, and it takes a leading role in many of the countries red wines. Thanks to the hot, dry conditions that Spain offers, the grenache can reach its full potential and proper ripeness. This grape is a staple in Spanish winemaking.
2020 Marquis de Lorojo, Tempranillo
The Tempranillo grape is native to Spain and is the most planted varietal in the country. The most dominant flavors often include cherry, dried fig, cedar, and tobacco. Age impacts the flavors of Tempranillo, imparting juicy fruit flavors and heat. Really beautiful vintages feature deeper, darker fruit notes, dry leaves, and Tempranillo’s signature leather flavors.
2020 Marquis de Lorojo, Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon does not have any original roots in Spain. It started gaining traction in the 60’s and quickly gained popularity. Now it is the 6th most widely planted red varietal in the country. While it is typically blended in with Tempranillo and Grenache, some producers have begun bottling wines that are focused on expressing the unique characteristics that this international varietal can have when grown in Spain.
