The 1996 vintage is a quintessential expression of Château Margaux's style, offering a harmonious balance of power and elegance. Comprising 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, this wine showcases extraordinary purity with notes of blackberries, cassis, and floral undertones. Its seamless personality and full body culminate in a long, refined finish.​

Critic Tasting Notes: “One of the wines of 20th century Bordeaux, now at a beautiful moment to drink. I have been lucky enough to taste this a few times recently, and it delivers every time. Floral edges, gunsmoke, peony, gentle intensity that builds before you even feel it happening, leading to a subtle intensity. This floats above the glass, sweet fruit and silky tannins. 100% new oak. A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, it presents layers of concentration with stunning blue, red, and black fruits intertwined with spring flowers and subtle oak nuances. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is opulent and seamless, with a multi-dimensional, layered texture and a finish that lingers endlessly.

In a challenging vintage marked by heat, the 2003 Château Margaux stands out with its extraordinary complexity and intensity. Composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, this blend underscores the estate’s dedication to Cabernet Sauvignon-led elegance. Displaying a deep purple hue, it offers a velvety texture and notes of spring flowers, camphor, melted licorice, crème de cassis, and toasted bread. The wine achieves a surreal delicacy and lightness, making it both approachable and profound.

Critic’s Tasting Notes: “This monumental wine boasts a super-ripe bouquet of fig, plum and blackberry fruit, with cedar, pepper and earth notes. The spice from the cask ageing is present but integrated. The body is rich, the texture is firmly tannic but not unapproachable, and a well-proportioned sense of balance suggests this will age for decades to come. The 2005 vintage is a testament to the estate's pursuit of perfection. Composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, it reveals an intoxicating bouquet of caramel, violets, smoke, licorice, plum, and maraschino cherries. On the palate, it is pure silk and velvet, with serious concentration and an elegant, refined profile that promises further development over time.​

Critic’s Tasting Notes: “The nose on this seems more concentrated than the 2000, and the purity of fruit is stunning, with blueberries, raspberries, fresh flowers, and hints of licorice. This is perfect and complete. Full bodied, with notes of forest berries and wild raspberries, this is thick and velvety with perfectly polished tannins. You can really feel the density on this, more than the tannic structure. This is a sleeping beauty that will be utterly captivating when it awakes. The 2009 vintage is hailed as one of the greatest young wines from Château Margaux in the past three decades. Composed of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, the blend reflects the château’s commitment to structure, elegance, and depth. It captivates with a nose of lilacs, currants, blackberries, and blueberries. Full-bodied, it boasts super silky tannins and savory fruit, with flavors of fine leather, blueberries, and sandalwood. The wine's quality is underscored by its creamy texture and bright acidity, culminating in a finish that lingers for minutes.

Critic’s Tasting Notes: “Power and enveloping aromatics from the first moment, this is bursting with pleasure, and so signature Margaux. Impossible not to love the depth and the spice that comes through from the first moment, with spirals of sandalwood, violets, crushed raspberries and cassis. Enticing and generous, and totally delicous. Still young, very much in it primary fruit phase, but you can begin to drink this now, such is the vibrancy of the tannins, but it will deliver for many decades to come. Torreified, smoked coffee bean and campfire notes overtake after half an hour in the glass. 100% new oak. 31% of production win the 1st wine, with the same high level of Cabernet Sauvignon as in 2005. It starts discreetly and then unfolds to reveal multiple dimensions, much like a rising tide, promising a long and evolving future.​

Critic’s Tasting Notes: “A phenomenal nose of roses, violets, and other flowers. Subtle yet rich raspberries and currants. It is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon. The is a curious wine, almost ethereal. It is all in the front of the palate with ultra-fine tannins. It is full and very, very rich but it is forever balanced and in harmony What a wine. It is a pinpointed wine. So cerebral.
