As the global population grows and rural areas develop into more urban environments, land and freshwater for growing crops and livestock is less available in some regions.

One biome that offers a chance for a significant step-change in the availability of animal protein is the ocean.

Aquaculture—the practice of cultivating food crops from bodies of water—is an increasingly important source of protein for people globally. Costco supplier SalMar, which farms and processes Atlantic salmon, is pioneering new ways to meet this need while also setting a standard of excellence for sustainability.
