Automatic
Valued for their longevity, automatic or self-winding watches use spring tension to drive their components. These watches are wound by the energy from the natural movement of the watch on a wrist, or by manually winding the watch using the crown. These watches do not use a battery. A fully wound automatic watch will run for approximately 38-50 hours, while some more sophisticated models will run for several weeks.
Quartz
A quartz watch runs by using a battery in conjunction with a quartz crystal. These watches are durable, capable of keeping extremely accurate time, and may be able to run non-stop for years without a battery change..
