In 1980, National Teacher Day (also called National Teachers’ Day) was established to show appreciation for the enriching and rewarding investment that teachers at all levels make in their students’ lives.

A poll conducted by the National Education Association found that teachers appreciate cards, flowers and drawings from their students. These gestures are a small way to let them know their efforts don’t go unnoticed.
