Dom Pérignon is a brand of vintage Champagne. It is named after Dom Pérignon, a Benedictine monk who was an important quality pioneer for Champagne wine but who, contrary to popular myths, did not discover the Champagne method for making sparkling wines.
All ABVs are as stated on original labels; varies slightly by vintage.
Collection Includes:
1976 - 1 bottle - 12.7% ABV
A lush opulence on the palate is combined with a strong smooth balance blending fullness and depth. The extraordinary persistence seems to be everlasting, and is lifted with just a slight hint of bitterness (blood orange).
1978 - 1 bottle - 12.7% ABV
This is a typical expression of a small harvest wine. Balance is then achieved through hints of barley, hazelnut and preserved fruit. A lively long finish, classically elegant, confirms this vintage's rather "virile" style.
1980 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
Clean and pure on the palate. The lively structured attack gradually gives way to the wine's fleshy fullness. Lovely persistence with a touch of citrusy freshness.
1982 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The attack – round, luscious, fleshy and creamy – is remarkably balanced by a lastingly firm finish. Aromas of candied citrus melt into toasty notes.
1983 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The attack is remarkable, clear cut, even forthright. There is a strong impression of solidity and intensity on the palate. This is followed by a powerful aromatic finish, presenting a perfect balance between smoothness and acidity.
1985 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The year 1985 was exceptional in its weather conditions and allowed the grapes to open well and to be picked from September 30 in ideal conditions. Lots of fullness and vinosity. Characteristics of figs and raisins predominate then give way to notes of undergrowth
1988 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
Crisp and fresh but with a complex character of dried fruits and a hint of toasted almonds. Very fine and long on the finish.
1990 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The wine is full and round without being opulent and expresses great harmony. The attack is definite and intense leading to a silky finish reminiscent of preserved citrus fruits.
1992 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
Sleek, intense, lively, racy. Persistent flavors of dried fruit with a precise fine texture.
1993 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
Well-orchestrated, precise and full-bodied tastes. The initial density becomes creamy, while the long finish ends on a note of glazed citrus fruit.
1995 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
After the upfront intensity and roundness, there is a gradual tension which becomes persistent, vibrant, pure, mineral and fruity.
1996 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
A paradoxical vintage where concentration and balance rival each other. The structure asserts itself by being well-defined. Concentrated, although momentarily restrained, this vintage opens up dramatically, leaving a striking and enduring richness.
1998 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The sensation is one of entering a wave: a satiny texture curls and unfurls on the palate, embracing and caressing it. An instant of weightlessness… matter vanishes, the finish vibrates, the taste buds are aroused by a controlled ardor. The persistence is remarkable, with just the slightest undertone of tartness (citrus zest and buds).
1999 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
In the mouth, the wine reaches a state of complex fullness: earthy, smokey and pearly, underscored by the vibrant warmth of peppery spice. The sensation of intensity develops and melts into a deep, rounded heart, with a fruity, exotic maturity and a slight touch of aniseed. This sensation, almost unsettling, is even more pronounced in the finish, while the notes of spice, still present, remain discreet, with toasted and iodine flavors.
2000 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The attack bursts forth, before maturing into a sensual fullness that winds around itself, like a tendril of foliage. Notes of liquorice and dried ginger linger on the skin of fruit (pear and mango), more textured than ripe. The finish gradually unfurls and then settles, smooth, mellow, all-encompassing. An indefinable je ne sais quoi, never upsetting the integrity of the wine, has worked its charm.
2002 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The presence of the wine on the palate is immediately captivating. Paradoxically concentrated yet creamy, it is energetic and warm in the mouth, focusing on the fruit, then gradually taking on more profound bass notes. The whole holds its note perfectly, intensively, with just a subtle, elegant hint of underlying bitterness.
2003 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The wine is currently still physical. It is compelling, tactile and vibrant rather than aromatic. The rhythm and tempo are more dominant than the melody. At first mild and delicate, then strongly, confidently mineral, persistent, precise, with a refined bitterness, and an iodine, saline tang.
2004 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
On the palate, the wine instantly traces an astoundingly fine line between density and weightlessness. Its precision is extreme, tactile, dark and chiseled. The full taste lingers with the utmost elegance on a sappy, spicy note.
2005 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The wine has a strong character and a powerful presence – there is even something physical about it. Overall, it is structured, focused, firm and dense. Its intriguingly spicy, flowery finish remains present in each sip.
2006 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The wine’s opulence – contained and succulent, round at heart – reveals itself on the palate. The envelope slides and stretches, and the wine becomes more complex and edgy, silkier than it is creamy. The whole eventually melts into an exquisite bitterness tinged with the briny taste of the sea.
2008 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
After a long period of reluctance, the wine is finally opening up. There is complete balance between the nose and the palate. Its slender, minimalist, pure, toned, athletic character is now also expressed with warmth. The fruit is pronounced and clear. The vintage's characteristic acidity is remarkably well integrated. Its persistence is mainly aromatic, gray, smokey and highly promising.
2009 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The fruit is majestic: ripe, fleshy and profound. Beyond the richness and a certain voluptuousness is a strong impression of consistency that prevails. The wine’s power is remarkably restrained. The various sensations – silky, salty, sappy, bitter and briny – converge and persist.
2010 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
The wine immediately imposes its ample presence, full and massive. A sappy sensation dominates as the tactile is rapidly overtaken by the aromatic. The body unfolds: generous, firm and controlled. Then it contracts, letting the wine vibrate with spices and pepper. The energy is sustained to a scintillating, saline finish.
2012 - 1 bottle - 12.5% ABV
Energy dominates on the palate. After a welcoming opening, the wine quickly becomes vibrant and then literally explodes with a surge of effervescence and tonicity. Focused by acidic and bitter notes, the finish brings a penetrating tautness marked by ginger, tobacco and toasted accents.
