Heartfelt gift ideas

My subject this month is Valentine's Day gifts. Since this magazine is the Costco Connection, I'd like to suggest a few options that combine two of my favorite things: heartfelt romantic gestures and great Costco value.

First, something that appeals to the taste buds. Costco's in-warehouse bakeries are concocting mini red velvet cakes specially for February. Unfortunately, they weren't available for a personal taste test when this column was written, but our bakery department tells me that if you like rich, moist, delectable red velvet cake, these are for you. The recipe calls for cream cheese in the batter and the frosting. These mini cakes come in a six-pack for around $8.

Next, consider flowers. Our floral department has created a special 12-stem rose collection accented with vibrant green ruscus leaves, available in your local warehouse. Flowers from Costco are the perfect easy gift (and responsibly sourced).

Last, for the gift of a lifetime, how about a trip for just the two of you? As our cover story on page 34 explains, Costco Travel offers numerous ideas for both traditional and off-the-beaten-path locations around the globe.

A bonus tip: If you can't make it to your local Costco, bakery items, flowers and many other items from the warehouses can be delivered to your home through the Same-Day delivery program offered at Costco.com. For details, go to Costco.com and select "Same-Day" at the top of the page.

Happy Valentine's Day, from us to you.
