Known in Japan as the ‘Dekopon’ this unique citrus resembles a sumo wrestler’s top knot, which is a common U.S. nickname for the fruit. Shiranui citrus are long coveted for their insanely flavorful fruit, easy peel and seedless flesh. Planting Tips & Instructions: 
  • Dig hole twice the size of root ball. Backfill around the root ball with amended soil taking care to ensure the tree is not planted too deep. The root ball should still be visible after completing the backfilling. Water deeply to settle soil. Yellow or dropping leave are signs of over watering or poor drainage. Citrus are heavy feeders that require fertilizer 3x/year in Spring, Summer and Fall 
  • Prune to desired height and shape in early Spring. The Shiranui Mandarin can easily be maintained at a much smaller size with heavy pruning
