Kirkland Signature™ 2011 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
The fruit for this classic Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon comes from select vineyards in the heart of Napa Valley. Oakville American Viticultural Area (AVA) is renowned for producing intensely concentrated, balanced grapes from well-drained soils of gravel and sand. The full-bodied, ripe black-fruit character of cassis and black cherry is surrounded by supple tannins, well-balanced acidity, and spice box notes of vanilla and cedar. The combination builds to a long, lingering finish with grip and bright fruit.

The Oakville American Viticultural Area (AVA) is located within the Napa Valley AVA and centered around the town of Oakville, California. The combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology is conducive to growing quality wine grapes, especially the Bordeaux varietals. The soil of the Oakville AVA is made up of sedimentary deposits from the hills that form Napa Valley. The soil is gravelly, sandy and drains easily. The wind and fog arriving from San Pablo Bay create the perfect conditions for growing grapes; cool mornings and evenings, and warm, dry afternoons. That’s why grapes from Oakville express the essential qualities for deep, complex wines with the structural balance of acid and tannin that can make them age worthy.
